      Career Opportunities: Full Time or Part Time

      1. Veterinarian

      and Pleasant Paws Pet Center are looking for a full and/or part-time veterinarian to join our amazing, compassionate team. We are a privately owned, small animal and exotics practice in Newtown, Connecticut, providing top quality patient care with a focus on client education in a fun, friendly environment. Mt Pleasant Hospital for animals and Pleasant Paws Pet Center are both AAHA accredited, with 4 DVMs rotating between facilities. We are fully equipped small animal hospitals proudly serving the Newtown, CT community. We are compassionate, friendly and completely committed to quality veterinary care for our patients and individualized service for our clients.

      WHAT YOU’LL DO
      • Examine and diagnose diseases and injuries of pets (primarily dogs and cats), and treat surgically or medically.
      • Collaborate within our veterinary ecosystem, and communicate with referring veterinarians.
      • Participate in ongoing education, seminars, and training to stay at the top of your field.
      • Working with the Practice Owner and Hospital Managers to achieve high standards and provide superior pet patient care.
      • Administer core vaccinations and counsel clients in well pets.
      • Perform dentistries.
      • Contribute to making our workplace enjoyable for all: staff, clients, and pets.
      REQUIREMENTS
      • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine Degree
      • 2+ years of experience practicing veterinary medicine in a Veterinary Hospital setting is preferred
      • Internship training is also preferred but not required
      • Ability to attain CT Veterinary License
      • Excel in managing time, prioritizing tasks, and thriving in a fast-paced environment

      The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and enjoy building relationships with our clients and their pets. An interest in exotics is an asset, but not required.       2. Veterinary Technician / Veterinary Assistants

      Your Day to Day

      • Assist the veterinarian with routine patient appointments and surgical procedures including caring for and monitoring of pets, keeping them calm and secure, and assisting with restraint.
      • Collect and process samples for diagnostics and collect and preserve laboratory samples that must be shipped offsite for testing.

      • Prepare appointment rooms prior to scheduled patient visits and treatment rooms for surgery and prepare and administer medications, vaccines, serums, or treatments as prescribed by the veterinarian.
      • Record patient medical history and medical notes as well as inventories of pharmaceuticals, equipment, and supplies
        and maintain controlled substance inventory and related log books, fill prescriptions, measure medications, and label containers and explain medications and potential side effects to clients.
      • Take radiographs including dental radiographs, perform routine ultrasonic dental prophy including dental charting, and monitor general anesthesia.
      • Dress and suture wounds, apply splints and protective devices, give enemas, perform catherization, ear flushes, intravenous feedings, and gavage.
      • Maintain, sterilize, and store all instruments, equipment, and machinery to ensure proper working condition.
      • Contribute to proper use and maintenance of all center equipment and overall cleanliness of the center and adherence to the company brand.
       

      3. Customer Service Representatives

      Do you enjoy talking with people, making others happy, and staying busy? Do you love being around pets and value the important role they play in making our lives better? We do too. In fact, our business philosophy is built around reimagining the experience pets and their parents have when it comes to veterinary care, grooming, daycare, and boarding.

      Our CSR’s is a pivotal role in the daily operations of the center. While often being the first part of the clients experience, the Customer Service Representatives will need to be enthusiastic and focused on ensuring clients and their pets feel welcomed and comfortable. Our Customer Service Representatives is our first impression to pets and pet parents and because of this needs to behave in a professional, welcoming, and warm demeanor, be empathetic to all guests and pets needs, and have an outgoing, others-focused personality. They must also have strong verbal communication skills, be able to handle calls, client concerns, and multiple tasks professionally and patiently.

      • Manage client schedules.
      • Communicate patient needs and information.
      • Document pet and client encounters.
      • Provide detailed information on veterinary care, grooming, daycare, and boarding services.
      • Provide detailed information on retail offerings.
      • Welcome the pet and client and initiate the check-in process.
      • Process financial transactions.
      • Manage the amenity bar.

       

      Pleasant Paws Pet Center team members are expected to:

      • Serve as a role model and champion of the Pleasant Paws Pet Center brand.
      • Contribute to proper use and maintenance of all center equipment and overall cleanliness of the center and adherence to the company brand.
      • Contribute to a positive and collaborative working environment for all members of the center team.
      • Provide exceptional client service.
      • Promote all center services.
      • Ensure animals receive adequate food, water, enrichment, and exercise.
      • Assist with the ongoing assessment, in conjunction with other team members, of animals within the center with respect to their health, welfare, general condition.
      • Perform and monitor daily cleaning and sanitation of facility and supplies.

      4. Pet Care Takers

      We are searching for an attentive, doting Pet Care Takers (Kennel Attendant) to oversee the well-being of the animals in our care. The Kennel Attendant’s responsibilities include cleaning runs/cages, administering medication, and providing animals with food and water. You should also communicate diminished functioning to the Veterinarian on call. To ensure success as a Kennel Attendant, you should be able to anticipate and tend to the needs of animals. Ultimately, a top- notch Kennel Attendant will be able to tailor their care according to animals’ physical, emotional, and behavioral difficulties.

      Kennel Attendant Responsibilities:

      • Transporting animals to and from the kennels.
      • Ensuring that the animals have ample, fresh food and water at all times.
      • Cleaning animal waste, spilled food, hair, and other debris from the kennels.
      • Disposing of trash in a timely manner.
      • Grooming, playing with, and administering treatment to animals under the auspices of the Veterinarian.
      • Accompanying animals on walks, if required.
      • Calming animals who are in distress.
      • Maintaining proper disease control protocols, including cleaning of facility.
      • Adjusting the air temperature to ensure that the animals remain comfortable.
      • Treating all animals as they are their own.
      • Reporting significant changes in functioning to the Veterinarian or medical professional on duty.
      • Evacuating all animals if an emergency occurs.
      • Care taking for dogs, cats, and pocket pets (birds, rabbits, lizards, etc.)
      • Clean, fold, and stock kennel laundry throughout the center.
      • Other duties as assigned.
